About the
Artist:
Award winning
Artist, Anne Steinman is a native of New Orleans and now resides in
Revere, Massachusetts. Her artistic style consists of a
harmonious blend of both Western and Oriental techniques and ranges
from realism to impressionistic expression.
Anne’s artwork conveys her deep love
and passion for nature, and her Jewish
heritage. She specializes in
creating beautiful
botanical
illustrations, wildlife and landscape paintings,
Ketubahs and Judaic Artwork,
Chinese brush paintings (or Sumi-e),
and custom
pet and people, portraits from photos.
Anne’s painting
“Autumn Flight” recently won
first place at Topsfield Fair’s 2009 Professional Watercolor Show.
Her stunning painting depicts a pair of birds flying together
surrounded by a vibrant foliage background. Anne utilized both
traditional brushstrokes and non-traditional methods of applying paint
to produce this work of art. She created brilliant autumn colors by
strategically pouring only the three primary colors (red, yellow,
blue) onto wet watercolor paper after applying removable masking fluid
to preserve the white of the paper for the birds and ripples of
water. Anne employed the same award winning technique in her
production of “Touch
of Love”, an original watercolor painting of two birds wading in
shallow water, and has donated this painting to the
6th Annual
Refrigerator Art Auction, benefiting the International School of
Louisiana. In addition, Anne has donated a reproduction of one of her
Chinese Brush Paintings, entitled “Playful
Panda".
Anne has taught various drawing and painting classes at North Shore
Community College, Brookline Arts Center, Arlington Center for the
Arts, and Saugus Senior Center.
in 2010, thanks to a grant form the Chelsea LCC, supported by Mass LCC, Anne Steinman is offering a
Watercolor and Drawing Class at the Chelsea Senior Center. This
program is supported in part from a grant from the
Chelsea Local
Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the
Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
