Learn to realistically capture the
natural color and texture of flowers and animals using pencil and
watercolor techniques. Fine-tune your observation skills as you
learn how to draw flowers, plants and animals with attention to
detail and color accuracy. Explore light and shade, form, and
color mixing. Focusing on textures such as fur, feathers and
scales you will master the facial expressions, natural patterns
and the unique characteristics of plants and animals. Numerous
demonstrations and individual attention included. All abilities

Flowers & Animals in Various Mediums

Have
fun rendering flora and fauna using your choice of mediums:
acrylic, pastel (not oil-based) watercolor, water based oil (not
oil-based), and/or pencils. Learn to draw and paint petals,
leaves, fur, feathers, scales, eyes and other distinctive
features. Focus on facial expressions, fur patterns, and unique
characteristics. Explore shape, form, lines, shade,
foreshortening, and proportions. Bring photos of your favorite
animals or use plant models. Numerous demonstrations and
individual attention included. Bring whatever supplies you
have to the first class. Instructor will go over any additional
supplies you may need. All abilities welcome. |

Spill, Splatter, and Splash! |

Do you wish you could loosen up? Be more spontaneous? Let your
creativity flow as you experiment with non-traditional ways of
applying watercolor. Explore both Western and one stroke Oriental
painting techniques. Have fun pouring paint, discovering wet on
wet, painting negative spaces, using traditional brushwork to
create free flowing artwork. Create interesting special effects
using salt, saran wrap, rubbing alcohol, and sea sponges. Both
experienced painters and individuals whom have never held a brush
can benefit.

WATERCOLOR CLASSES
Wednesdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00

Starting February 3rd for six weeks (Due to storm
warnings, Feb. 10th class was canceled, and class will end one
week later)
Here’s a stroke of luck! Whether
you’re someone who has never held a brush or an
experienced painter, you can have fun exploring traditional and
non-traditional ways
of applying paint and creating works of art and beauty. You
will learn the basics and
secrets of watercolor painting in an enjoyable and supportive
atmosphere.
Demonstrations and one-on-one instruction included.
Limited to 12 students.
Art Instructor Anne Steinman will
be teaching watercolor classes starting
Wednesday, February 3rd from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
Anne Steinman is a well known Art Instructor and has taught at
North Shore
Community College, Brookline Arts Center, and Arlington Center for
the Arts.
We are very pleased to welcome her here at our Center.
