Spill, Splatter, and Splash -- Watercolor on the Loose - The Art of Pouring Watercolor

	Do you wish you could loosen up? Be more spontaneous? Let your creativity flow as you experiment with non-traditional ways of applying paint. We will focus on pouring paint, painting negative spaces, and using traditional brushwork to create free flowing artwork.  We will also have fun experimenting with using salt, saran wrap, rubbing alcohol, and sponges to create interesting special effects.

Chinese Brush Painting  - Sumi

Spontaneous Style - Meditation in Ink Whether you’re an experienced painter or someone who has never held a brush, have fun painting flowers, birds, and/or animals using Chinese watercolor paints and ink on rice paper. In a fun and relaxing atmosphere, you’ll be creating paintings of serenity on your very first day!  In traditional Chinese Brush Painting, each stroke captures the essence of the plant or animal being portrayed.  No particular model is used.  The artist works from imagination, mentally calculating and repositioning each stroke as if composing a song.  Demonstrations and individual attentionn included.  All abilities welcome! Gong-bi - Detail Style In Gong-bi or detail style Chinese brush painting, you will learn to apply layers of vibrant intense colors to create dramatic visual effects. Begin by outlining the subjects in ink on rice paper then fill in colors. Explore painting flowers, fish, crabs, birds and/or animals with stunning details using a combination of Chinese and Western techniques.  Class includes demonstrations, plenty of time for painting, and individual attention.  All abilities welcome.
