Autumn Flight Watercolor Painting by Anne Steinman
While painting Autumn Flight, Anne only used the three primary
colors (Red, Yellow, Blue) to create the spectacular multi-colored effects.
Before pouring the paint, she protected the white birds and white highlights
in the water and on the cypress tree by using removable masking fluid.
After the initial paint dried, she removed the masking fluid and used
traditional brushstrokes to paint the birds and trees. Anne
lightly painted the shadows in the cranes' feathers with weak
tints of the same three primary colors, while carefully preserving enough
white of the paper for the birds.
